Egyptian Cuisine

Although Egyptian food falls under both Middle Eastern and Mediterranean Cooking, it is worth noting that the same dish will taste different in each country of the region and even ingredients will vary.

Egyptian foods has a unique character. Throughout history, because of its strategic position, Egypt had been occupied by the major powers of the time and that is reflected in Egyptian cuisine. Different foods were incorporated into Egyptian cooking and came out with a local flavour instead of losing the local character of the food to the foreign ones.
