An introduction to nutrition skills for health and wellbeing.
Learners will gain an understanding of nutrients in different foods, how to make balanced meals and use their new knowledge to plan personal nutrition changes.
This course will look at how nutrition interacts with multiple areas of health eg physical, psychological, social, cultural and environmental, some special nutrition circumstances such as allergies, plant based diets, and basic exercise nutrition.
Topics will include macronutrients (carbohydrates, protein and fat), micronutrients (vitamins and minerals), hydration, metabolism, national nutrition guidelines, meal planning, supplements, understanding nutrition labels, nutrition myths and misinformation, body image, media, intuitive eating, health at every size, nutrition psychology and goal setting.
