Julie Derrick

Julie has been working with people and clay for many years. Except for a year in Dunedin and a few months of travel overseas, Julie has spent most of her life in Christchurch; she loves the dramatic landscape of Hills on one side and Mountains in the distance. She has had an interest in Art from a young age, drawing and painting and making things. Her interest in clay started at the age of 9.

Julie is very knowledgeable about the technical information about clay and glazes, and she had a need to share that information and this is why she loves her work with Risingholme. At Risingholme, Julie firstly started as a technician, then lately as a tutor, sharing her knowledge of Clay etc. She also loves gardening, sewing, old houses and history.
